Healthy civilizations preserve diversity while maintaining sufficient cohesion for cooperation.

Pluralism is not the elimination of disagreement.
Pluralism is the preservation of legitimate difference.
Civilizational Importance
Without pluralism:
innovation declines
adaptation weakens
communities become fragile
Without shared coordination:
fragmentation increases
legitimacy declines
